A button on my app stopped working after I published it

In the preview, the button worked. On the live site, people press Sign up, Save, Book or Send and nothing happens: no error, no message, nothing. Most visitors don't tell you. They just leave.

A button that does nothing is almost always one of four things. Here's how to tell which.

Find the cause in 2 minutes

  1. Open your live site on a computer, in a private window, and press F12.
  2. Open the Console tab and press the button. If a red error appears at that moment, that's your cause (see 1 below).
  3. Open the Network tab and press it again. If a request turns red, or shows a status like 401, 403, 404 or 500, see 2.
  4. If nothing at all happens in either tab, the click may not be reaching the button (see 3).
  5. Try the same thing on your phone (see 4).

The usual causes

  1. A script error when it's pressed. The code behind the button breaks on the live site. Often it reads something that exists in the preview but not live, like a setting, a signed-in user or a value from the address bar. The red console error names it.
  2. The request behind it fails. The button sends something to your database or a backend function, and the live site rejects it. The usual reasons: a key or address that was only set for the preview; a database rule that blocks the write (there's more in Data won't save); or the visitor isn't signed in when the action needs it.
  3. Something is covering it. A cookie notice, a chat bubble, a popup or an invisible layer sits on top of the button on the live site, so the click lands on that instead. In Chrome, right-click the button and choose Inspect: if a different element is highlighted, that's the cover.
  4. It's too small, or off-screen, on a phone. On a narrow screen the button can sit under another element or below the bottom edge, or be too small to tap.

Fix it in your builder

Paste this, with what you saw:

On my LIVE site (not the preview), the [name] button does nothing when pressed. Console error: [paste, or "none"]. Failing request: [paste the address and status, or "none"]. Find the cause on the live site and fix only that: if an element covers the button, move it; if a request fails, fix that request; if a value is missing on live, add it to the live environment. Make the button show a clear message if the action fails. Then tell me how to check it in a private window, signed out and signed in, on a phone and a computer.

Then publish and press the button again on the live site, in a private window, on a phone and a computer.

Check every button a customer needs

Paste your app's link at vibe-fixer.com. An AI agent goes through your live app like a new customer, on a phone and a computer, presses what a customer would press, tells you what does nothing, and gives you the exact fix for one problem to paste into your builder, free. Then it re-tests the live app to prove it worked. No account needed.
